Seychelles Beaches

Made up of remnants of a super continent called Gondwanaland that existed half a billion years ago, this tropical island chain is anything but an archaic relic of its rock strewn past. That’s because this peaceful Indian Ocean hideaway is home to some of the most distinctively beautiful beaches in the world, and why so many travelers flock to them.

For instance, that person sitting next to you on the plane? Probably a shutterbug here on assignment to shoot Seychelles' beaches. Go ahead, give him a card. Maybe you’ll end up on the cover of "Splashin" magazine. This could be your big break. But even if he turns out to be nothing more than a paint salesman from Hoboken, you’re still going to have the time of your life on these emerald isles. And so is he.

The beaches on Mahé, Seychelles' largest island, are hardly visited if not deserted much of the time. The busiest of these lazy strands is Beau Vallon, where many of the island’s small resorts are located. If a nearly empty beach is too active for you, head south along the coast to Port Launay or Anse Soleil. Here you’ll find the same dazzling scenery with even fewer tourists in sight. For the most secluded and luxurious spot on Mahé try the Banyan Resort on the wild west coast at Anse Intendance.

Or hop a flight to North Island where you can park your derriere on any one of four private beaches, all world class, just like your... "Tea time!" And later you can take dinner surf-side as the sun sets, with that hunk or honey you brought along.

"That's no hunk, that's my husband!"

Still not content? Grab a boat or plane to Praslin Island and enjoy the equally impressive Seychelles beaches there, even more laidback and peaceful than those on Mahé. Or, head for La Digue where you'll find the world famous Source d’Argent Beach, which has appeared in nearly every travel-mag on the planet. Here, the lush tropical jungle hangs over a surreal shore dotted with granite boulders, as if mythical giants had been playing at dice. Bear in mind, that the waves in this area can be large depending on the season and the weather, and the currents can be treacherous. So, heads up out there.
