Malaysian Beaches

If you are looking for a quiet beach to bask on for your your vacation then a Malaysian beach might be just what you want. Blessed by frequent but brief rain showers, the entire country seems an enormous garden. Few countries can boast a similar abundance of flora and fauna. A lush green pervades the entire landscape punctuated by bursts of brightly hued flowers and small exotic creatures.

As a result of so much rain, Malaysia’s tropical forests run right down to the edge of the sea leaving limited room for us beach-lizards to lounge on. So, if you want a beach that's perfect for a good ol' sun bake, you must head for one of Malaysia’s many islands where you'll find world class strands to recline on.

Not only are Malaysian beaches first class destinations, but each coast of the Malaysian peninsula has its own climate. Along the west coast the dry season runs from December to April, while on the east coast the best season is May to November. So there‘s really no reason to leave - ever.

"I wonder if they'll let me get my visa extended - again."

The islands range from single resort 'not another soul in sight' hideaways to mega-swarm tourists destinations. Along the east coast the islands are mostly undeveloped and this is where you'll find some of the best sunning, swimming and snorkeling anywhere on earth.

For the venturesome, the possibilities are endless. For sheer beauty, try the islands of Lang Tengah, Rawa, Perhentian Besar, Perhentian Kecil or Redang. Or for a back to nature holiday closer to civilization, head for Tioman Island off the southeast coast, which is accessible by direct flights from both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

For something a bit more upscale, head for the islands on the northwest coast near Penang, such as Langkawi or Pangkor Laut Island. Whatever you decide, you’re sure to enjoy your holiday retreat back to this unspoiled natural world.
