Jamaican Beaches

If this isn’t 'Margueritaville', then I don’t know where you find it. In fact, Jimmy Buffet has several of his famed clubs by that name on this 'everyone is having fun-lovin' isle. Here, both tourists and locals kick back and enjoy themselves. As the legendary king of reggae Bob Marley so aptly put it: "Don’t worry, be happy".

It’s hard to say whether Negril with miles of azure coastline, soft sand and sizzling swimsuits, or Montego Bay with similar if more subtle brands of mild mannered mayhem, takes first place in the 'let’s have fun' derby. But one thing is certain, if it’s spring break, the students will be here in force and all the Jamaican beaches packed. Take your pick, Negril or Mobay? Either one is sure to be a blast.

For fun-lovin' adults, Jamaica is the Caribbean's mecca for naturism. There are so many clothing optional resorts here, where you can leave your clothes and cares behind, that it may be hard to choose where to slip into ‘nothing more comfortable‘. I’m sure you’ll find a place that suits you, or to be more precise, 'unsuits' you. The resorts marked with an asterisk (*) are adult-only and most of these are clothing optional on some part of their property, usually the beach.

For the more modest, there are plenty of clothes oriented Jamaican beach resorts. One of these, the Silver Sands, offers private villas for rent at reasonable rates including cook and other support staff in a family friendly environment. The beach is small but the number of guests is as well, so you may find you have the beach almost to yourself. A perfect spot for that long awaited winter retreat you've been looking forward to.

Some Jamaican beaches are listed as 'private'. These do not deny access to anyone. It simply means you have to pay a fee to get on them. This assures that they are well maintained and that your stay will be hassle free. Most major resorts have private beaches as well. If you want to use one where you aren’t staying, you’ll have to check with the resort to see what their policy is.

Finally, don't forget to head over to Boston Bay for some authentic BBQ 'jerk' chicken or pork. A trip to Jamaica would simply not be complete without it.
